Roller Beds

Thomson Engineering Design have developed a unique lightweight, heavy-duty roller system for assisting with the movement of all kinds of rail and materials. The double width, 1.8m long sections weigh less than 50kg and fit neatly in the four-foot. Ideal for tunnels and Underground sites.

Lightweight roller beds are the solution to moving loads in tunnels and other areas where access is too restricted for RRV’s.

Two sizes are provided – single roller and double roller width. Both feature a high strength, high rigidity aluminium alloy space frame with removable rollers.

The rollers themselves feature aluminium alloy outer tubes, sealed for life ball races and high tensile tubular shafts.

All this adds up to give a load capacity of 2,000kg on an extremely light assembly.

These roller beds are designed to be laid in between the running rails for moving rail sections, sleepers and other parts where access is too restricted for lifting machines eg. in tunnels.
