The Thomson Bag Holder And Bag Handling System, devised by Les Radcliffe of Network Rail, consists of a purpose-designed loading frame and a special hydraulic fork bag lifting attachment.

Whilst loading the bag it is securely held in the frame. The frame has spring loaded legs to allow the bag to form itself to the load without overloading any of the lifting lugs.

Once the bag is fully loaded the fork attachment, fitted to an excavator, is used to lift and transport the bag.

The bag support frame can be quickly dismantled for easy transport in a works van.
